Roofing and Software Really Are Compatible

In the roofing industry, software really has a bad rap.

And, you know what? Both sides are to blame.

Roofing software up until a few years ago has been a total disaster, providing some powerful tools in an almost useless interface, and roofers have been holding out on taking the plunge often because of a bad case of reluctance.

But I’m here to tell you that roofing and software really are compatible, and you’re going to need them both if you’re going to take on the challenges of tomorrow.

How to reconcile roofing and software

First, let’s remove this stigma around roofing software.

There’s a general feeling of resistance to roofing software among roofers that stems from a few different roots.

One is an aversion to technology in general, where any new thing is automatically going to “go over your head.”

And, you know, I’m not gonna lie and say that some new technology and much of what has been made as roofing software often hasn’t been up to par on simplicity and ease of use.

But while this may be the norm, it is by no means the end all be all of the conversation.

The truth is, roofing software got the short end of the stick.

In reality roofing software can be approachable, and I assure you that there is a tool that you will find to be quite easy if you give it a chance.

The other protest is similar but not the same: aversion to change.

I get it, you’ve been doing what you’ve been doing for years and it’s worked fine until now. Or, your process stumbles along but you’re too familiar with it to switch to anything else.

Let me tell you, switching to roofing software will probably require some changes, but those changes will be for good. They’ll make you work faster, forget less, sell more, lower losses, and increase profits.

It’s not the same beast as it was a few years ago. Not only has CRM (and project management software) made huge advances with cloud and mobile technologies, but the user experience principles from other industries have trickled in little-by-little to make roofing software much more usable.

Nowadays, roofing software is a whole new kind of monster just waiting to be tamed and turned on even the most complicated of processes to help you make them more efficient, earning you more money than ever.

But you have to be ready to take the plunge, diving in head first into roofing software before you start seeing the benefits.

You have to give roofing software a chance. No more whiteboards, no more file folders, no more Excel spreadsheets to manage your contacts and jobs.

It’s almost 2015. Can you believe it’s been almost 15 years since the year 2000? It still seems like it was only a few years ago to me.

But if we’re going to survive doing business in 2015, we need to live like we’re already in the future, gosh darn it!

We can’t keep puttering around in the past while the future passes us by.

Conclusion: Move to customer and job management software ASAP

Don’t delay it any longer. Take the plunge, get started with CRM and job management software today and start reaping the benefits for you and your company.
