I needed a new hard drive and so I worked out a deal with my parents to let me use their hard drive to pass some data off, reformat mine, and then put it back on.
Everything was going swell, I passed off my music and movies, my ebooks, and some other things that were in a folder.
I just had one more folder that I remembered all day that I needed to transfer before formatting my drive.
Some more time passed, and I said, “oh hey, it’s ready.” And I hit Format.
I forgot to transfer over the last folder.
And I realized this after the format was over.
I’ve now spent the better part of my free time these last few days trying to find recovery software that will be able to find the files I lost and restore them in a usable state.
I’m finally having some success.
